Outstanding students who meet the admissions requirements for the accelerated program in History and Political Science may complete both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in five years.

Program Requirements:
Credits and Requirements: Graduate
The Department offers the following three options for the Graduate degree in History and Political Science:
- Option A: 30 graduate credits, including 6 thesis credits, plus written comprehensive examination
- Option B: 30 graduate credits with a written comprehensive examination, but no thesis; or
- Option C: 36 graduate credits, including 6 thesis credits, with no examination
Credits and Requirements: Undergraduate
- HIS/POS major requirements: 45 credits
- Liberal Education requirements: 41-42 credits (including 4-8 credits met through HIS/POS requirements)
- General electives-or-minor credits: 24
Total minimum undergraduate credits: 110

This BA/MA program is excellent preparation for a PhD program, teaching, the non-profit sector, and public service more broadly.

Program Specific Admission Requirements:
Provisional Admission to the Program
- minimum 600 verbal SAT and composite score of approximately 1200.
- minimum 94 high school average.
The Department reviews all applicants and reserves the right to depart from the above standards in special cases.
Full Admission to the Program
- GPA of 3.5 in a minimum of 16 credits in the major
- Recommendations from two full-time faculty in the Department of History and Political Science
Students applying to the program as sophomores or juniors must meet the above requirements for full admission.
