ART 516 Develop in Art & Literacy
In this course, students will acquire a basic understanding of theories and trends in art education, and how developmental considerations have changed over time. Students will research and create presentations on the history of art education, its competing philosophies and ties to general education trends, as well as some contemporary theoretical trends, including the NYS and/or new national Visual Arts Learning Standards. Developmental stages of learning in visual and textual literacy, and their intertwined relationship also introduced. Part of this course is spent in the computer lab, where students will create various presentations with Word, Prezi, and PowerPoint. Recommended prior courses include ART 515 and a three-credit course in developmental psychology. Materials fee. Fall
