SWK 695 Dir Readings in Clinical Practice
This course is an advanced independent exploration of the therapeutic process including diagnosis, assessment, and intervention within an identified population such as persons who identify as LGBTQ, veterans, adolescents, persons who are incarcerated, etc. The course will critically review the literature related to the identified population, focusing on an understanding of the history of the concerns and services related to the population. Students will explore in depth, evidence based, diagnostic, treatment and intervention methods used when serving the chosen population. Students will apply learning to case material from field. The final product of the course will be a comprehensive paper that articulates the nature of assessment, the models and the intervention methods that are most effective for maintaining and enhancing the mental, emotional, behavioral and social functioning and well-being of persons within this population. Students can enroll in between 1 – 4 credits of clinical course credit for this course.
