ECO 353 Public Finance

This course explores the finance function of the government in terms of allocation, distribution, and stabilization aspects of government policy. Heavy emphasis will be put on the critical analysis of theories and principles of taxation, expenditures, intergovernmental fiscal relations, and institutions. A paper will be required at the end of the semester, which will address a single, narrowly defined tax policy issue in-depth. Prerequisites:  ECO 251, ECO 352, and MATH 190
