MAT 373 Introduction to Statistics

Mathematical statistics deals less with actually doing statistical analysis and more on the mathematical theory underlying statistical techniques. Thus, we are concerned with sampling distribution theory as opposed to collecting actual random samples. We are concerned with the theory of unbiased estimators as opposed to actually doing parameter estimation for real world data. Topics include Descriptive statistics, sampling distributions, multivariate distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression, nonparametric methods. Prerequisite: MAT 372 or permission of the instructor.
