HIS 204 Social Studies Economics I

This course examines the dynamics of national and global economies within the historical context of the expansion of consumer markets, evolving technologies, cultural exchange, and competition over access to and control of commodities. The rise and fall of dynastic empires and their impact on expansion and contraction of regional and world trade will be explored along with competing interpretations of the emergence of a world system from both western and non-western perspectives. Prerequisite: HIS 215, which must be passed with C or better prior to registration for HIS 204. (L03)
