CJS 332 Intelligence-Led Policing

The concept of Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) is continually evolving and expanding strategy implemented by law enforcement to utilize crime analysis and criminal intelligence to reduce crime. ILP continues to evolve in conjunction with the ever-expanding role Information Technology capabilities play in supporting law enforcement efforts. This course will discuss how law enforcement collects, shares and analyzes criminal intelligence and information for tracking criminal activity for the purposes of apprehension as well as to support the development of overall crime reduction strategies. Students will be exposed to various ILP initiatives, when and where they are applicable and what challenges law enforcement faces when implementing strategies. Although ILP is implemented for various law enforcement disciplines and considerations, this course will primarily focus on ILP's relationship to Part 1 Crime. Spring
