AHI 238 History of Art & Dance
This course explores the intertwined histories of dance and art in the Western tradition. Concurrent developments in ballet and modern dance and the visual arts are studied with respect to their cultural contexts. Topics covered include the employment of art and dance in Baroque court spectacle, and 20th century collaborations between Modern artists and choreographers. May include a required Saturday trip to a New York City museum and/or attendance to a regional dance concert. No prior knowledge of dance or art history is required for this course. Prerequisites: ENG 104 or 105. (L05)
