POS 531 Supreme Court & Society Policy

This course examines the role of the Supreme Court in the U.S. political, social and economic system. It surveys the historical record of the Court in major policy areas; examines the internal politics of Supreme Court decision-making; and focuses on the Court's role in formulating policy. Special attention is devoted to assessing the overall role of the Court as a public policy-making institution, examining the relationship between the Court's policies, democracy and the changing economic order.
