MAT 184 Elementary Statistics
This non-calculus based course introduces students to the basic statistical concepts and techniques required for critically evaluating information, and developing decision-making skills. Topics to be studied include descriptive statistics; probability; inferential statistics; regression and correlation. Emphasis will be on understanding statistical methods, calculating statistics, and interpreting the results. Real-world applications from various fields such as business, health, behavioral and social sciences, education, biology, medicine, and industry will be discussed within each topic. After successful completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate statistical literacy and the ability to think critically about information and how to make informed decisions and conclusions.
