ENG 355 Victorian Literature & Culture

Course addresses texts published during the Victorian period (approximately 1837-1901) and relevant social, historical, aesthetic, and critical contexts affecting literary/artistic production. Readings may range from poetry, prose and/or drama from authors such as Elizabeth Gaskell, Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, the Brontës, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and others.  This course may be taken more than once, provided the course addresses a different topic when taken again. Fulfills writing-intensive requirement.  Prerequisites: ENG 112 or 114 and two literature courses at the 200-level.
