ENG 271 US Literature 1865-1910

Critical study of US literature from the end of the Civil War through the first decade of the 20th century.  Focus may be selected author(s) (Sarah Orne Jewett, Charles Chesnutt, Henry James), genre (realist fiction, regionalism, naturalism), cultural or historical context (the literature of Reconstruction); or some other topic. This course may be taken more than once, provided it addresses a different topic when taken again. (L04)
