PSY 256 Aging in Society

This course will take on a macro level perspective to understand the societal implications of aging populations across the world. Topics of discussion will include biological, psychological, social, and cultural forces that impact the lives of older adults from a variety of cultures and countries. An exploration of aging theories that pertain to employment, retirement, family systems, housing and transportation, governmental policies, as well as social norms will be discussed. Prerequisite: successful completion of SOC 111 or PSY 111 with a C or better. Fulfills diversity requirement. Offered as needed.
