HIS 382 Corporate America
This course examines the emergence of large corporations in the late 19th century and their impact on politics, society, and culture in the United States. Students will explore the conflicts between corporate businessmen, workers, farmers, and middle-class reformers over the nature and direction of the nation in the 20th century, with particular attention to the realms of politics, law, cultural legitimacy, and workplace relations. Fulfills writing-intensive requirement. Prerequisite: HIS 227.
