BIO 170 Introduction to Biology

This one-semester general biology course is designed to meet requirements of nursing and allied health students. Topics covered include an introduction to chemistry and biochemistry, cell structures and activities, cellular metabolism, genetics (both classical and molecular), and homeostasis. Students will learn applications of these topics as they apply to human health issues of today. Laboratory exercises correlate to lecture topics. High school biology or equivalent is strongly recommended.
