SPY 591 Advanced Internshp in School Psychology

This seminar accompanies the second semester internship field placement in which students are required to complete an additional internship experience of 600 hours in an approved program which addresses further refinement in the development of skills in assessment, learning theory, counseling and clinical and educational consultation and intervention.Students participating in this second semester internship experience are expected to gain further independence as they carry out the various tasks critical to the role of the school psychologist.The purpose of the seminar is to provide students an opportunity to discuss their internship experiences as regards the role of the professional school psychologist.In addition, students will be exposedto current specialty topics in the field (e.g.; prevention and early intervention, curriculum-based assessment, evaluating intervention effectiveness) and discuss how these ideas are applied in their certification through the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP), including preparation for the School Psychology Praxis II Exam.Specific learning outcomes and required students experiences for the internship are in accordance with the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) recommendations and are listed in the attached School Psychology Program Internship Packet. Prerequisite: SPY 590.
