ACC 554 Financial Auditing
This course covers the philosophy, ethics, environment and standards of the auditing profession in the United States. The student will develop an understanding of the nature and purpose of auditing, auditing standards, professional conduct and ethics, legal liability, and the various approaches to controlling audit risk and selecting audit procedures and techniques in performing audits of external financial statements and issuing related reports. The student will examine the auditor’s decision process in evaluating internal controls, accumulating evidence to support the audit report and audit sampling. Audit techniques utilizing artificial intelligence and expert systems will be discussed. Attestation standards and assurance services are also covered, together with the competencies necessary for future success in the auditing profession. A project to audit the financial statements of a company will be included.
