Program Overview:
The Dual Degree BS/MBA provides students of superior academic ability and maturity the chance to earn both degrees—which together would normally require 158 credits—with as few as 140 credits.
Students typically accelerate their progress by identifying graduate courses that can fulfill both graduate and undergraduate requirements. However, the plan of study may also include independent study, proficiency exams, special seminars, and advanced courses.
The Finance major is designed for students wishing to enter the fields of commercial and investment banking, insurance, asset and portfolio management, securities analysis and trading and brokering, pension and mutual fund management, corporate finance, and real estate management or sales. The major provides a firm foundation in the core theories of finance. The curriculum of the Finance major at the College of Saint Rose has a focus on pragmatic experiences in money management. The ability to utilize computers for financial modeling and data analysis is also emphasized. In addition, students of the Finance major are strongly encouraged to develop a focus in Accounting/Taxation, Financial Planning, Economics, Mathematics and/or Computer Science beyond the foundational knowledge of Finance.

Program Requirements:
The Finance BS/MBA major at the College of Saint Rose emphasizes a practical approach to the understanding of finance that is built on a solid foundational knowledge of accounting and business. All Finance majors develop a comprehensive understanding in the various functional areas of accounting and business by completing the Accounting and Business Requirements; they develop a focus in finance by completing the Finance Requirements; and they develop a further specialized interest by completing the Electives Requirements.
Normally, once a student has matriculated in the Finance major at The College of Saint Rose, he or she must satisfy all remaining major requirements with Saint Rose courses. Likewise, students pursuing the Finance minor must satisfy all requirements for the minor with Saint Rose courses.
The minimum credit requirement for the Bachelor of Science in Finance/Master of Business Administration program at The College of Saint Rose is 158 credits, which consists of the following:

*The elective courses from the Accounting/Taxation minor and/or the Financial Planning minor and/or the Economics minor and/or the Mathematics minor and/or the Computer Science minor.
**Arts and science electives include courses from the arts and sciences that may or may not have Liberal Education designation. Courses taken in professional fields such as accounting, business, nursing, education, medical technology or engineering are generally not recognized as arts and sciences for this requirement. Students must consult with their advisors in selecting these courses.
***Additional credits include any courses offered or accepted by The College of Saint Rose that can be applied toward the 122 credit hour graduation requirement.
A study abroad option is available to interested students who want to spend a semester at an approved college or university in another country. The approved courses taken will count toward the Business degree.
Technology:
The use of computers is an integral part of graduate business courses. Students will have classroom assignments that require proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software applications. The College of Saint Rose computer facilities include computer laboratories with open-time access available to all students. Scanning and laser printing are available. Since students use computer applications throughout the graduate business program for assignments, analysis, presentations, and as a managerial tool, computer ownership is strongly recommended.

The College of Saint Rose, sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, Albany Province, is chartered by the Board of Regents of New York State. All of its degrees and programs are registered and its professional programs are fully approved by the Board of Regents through the New York State Education Department.
The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (267-284-5000). The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

General Admission Information
Eligibility for admission to The College of Saint Rose graduate programs is typically based upon the following minimum requirements:

Submission of a completed application and a Statement of Purpose of approximately 300 words detailing the applicant’s goals for graduate study.

Evidence of the possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution through submission of official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended

Academic and professional qualifications for graduate study, as indicated by two letters of recommendation.

A grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), overall and in the undergraduate major.

Other admission criteria specified by academic programs such as submission of resumes, writing samples, portfolios, test scores, and participation in interviews or admissions workshops.

Financial Aid
The College of Saint Rose has long been committed to the premise that a quality education should be within the reach of qualified students. To this end, the College serves its student body through a comprehensive program of federal, state, and institutional financial aid. While the basic responsibility for financing education lies with the students and their families, scholarships, loans, and/or assistantships can supplement insufficient family resources. The amount of aid available through the College is limited and is awarded on the basis of academic merit. All financial assistance from the College is subject to adjustment if the recipients are later granted aid from other sources. Financial aid awards are contingent upon students’ maintaining good academic standing and satisfactory academic progress.

B.S./M.B.A. Application Process
Once accepted for this option, students do not obtain a degree until all course work is completed; then, they are awarded two degrees - the Bachelor of Science in Finance and the Master of Business Administration. After admission to the program, the student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all business courses completed. No undergraduate business course with a grade of lower than “C+” will be accepted toward graduation. Only two undergraduate courses may be retaken to improve grades. All other graduate curriculum requirements apply. If a conflict should arise, M.B.A. program requirements take precedence.
