CSD 301 Vocology of the Singing Voice
This course is a blend of scientific study of the singing voice alongside analysis of musicians and performance practices pervasive in a wide variety of vocal styles. In fusing a scientific approach with practice and analysis, this course provides mechanisms for interpreting musical performance as it pertains to the singing voice. This course will review anatomy and physiology of the vocal mechanism, voice disorders specific to singers, vocal health, and technique. Throughout the semester, screenings will be provided to not only assess the vocal health of the students enrolled in the course, but to educate the students about the assessment process and the characteristics of their own voice. Fall, Spring (Music Industry and Music Majors - all other majors must obtain instructor permission to enroll)
