BIO 358 Genetics

A study of genetic phenomena at levels of molecules, cells, organisms and populations. Students will: (1) Gain an understanding of the complexities of modern genetics that will be a basis for further studies in genetics in other upper level classes and in graduate school; (2) Discuss the research techniques of genetic scientists; (3) Use the primary research literature of genetics; (4) Discuss topics and issues related to genetics, including the role of genetics in modern society and ethical issues related to genetics research/discoveries; and (5) Present scientific ideas related to genetics in an informal setting. BIO 358L Laboratory required. Prerequisites: BIO 280 or BIO 351. Spring
